As the sins of the world and the workings of Satan press ever tightly around us … as we may from time-to-time become stressed or even perhaps distressed from the bombardment of the press and social-media postings giving warning of virus outbreaks, social unrest, and other connotations of doom, may we be ever mindful of the need to don the full amour of God … to wear the belt of truth around our waist and the breastplate of righteousness. May we stand firm on the Gospel of Peace and take up the Shield of Faith to defend against the fiery arrows of the wicked one. Let us take up the word of God and wear the helmet of salvation and take up the sword of the Spirit. Let us be ever watchful with all perseverance and supplication of the saints and pray incessantly with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.
The words of Paul the Apostle are just as applicable to us today as they were to those he wrote, as recorded in Ephesians 6:10-20. For when we do fully abide in Jesus Christ our Lord, and put on the whole amour of God, we are ourselves strengthened when we are truly strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
As spoken by Jesus Christ Himself when addressing his Disciples who had become distressed at His imminent earthly departure from them | “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27).
“Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:17-19)
